2000 gtp noisy powersteering pump

I was curious if anyone has a solution to the whining powersteering pump on grand prix's? My car is a 2000 gtp but it's pretty much brand new from the paint to suspension and motor and I can't seem to get rid of the noisy powersteering pump any ideas? The whole steering is new with only a few thousand miles on it new rack and pinion, new mooge tie rod ends, remanufactured A1 cardone pump with new pulley, new lines along with a 4 wheel alignment. Your opinion is much appreciated.
 


I thought they self bleed themselves? It's not a crazy loud whine but loud enough, more noticeable with the window down turning while going slower in a parking lot. It sounds about how it did before I changed the pump kinda irritating it's all brand new and still sounds like a older grand prix with a noisy pump.
 
No you definitely have to bleed it to get air out. Block the back wheels and jack up the front of the car up off the ground slightly. Open the power steering tank and fill it up a good amount nothing near the top but little higher than the fill line.

With the car off on the jacks key on move the steering wheel back and forth full rotation about 15 to 30 times. I had to do it about 30 or so when it got low and air got in. After that turn on the car and do the same thing about 35 times and check and put in Power steering fluid as it goes down. Top off at fill line and cover up and you should be good to go.

Worked for me.
 
Maybe a little Lucas power steering additive?

I have used some of that lucas power steering additive before on a different car with a bunch of miles it seemed to help. I just didn't think with the complete steering system brand new and literally everything around it I would have to ya know? It also seems harder to steer then some cars I guess it's just the nature of the beast lol I just figured that was cuz it was old but it seems about the same with all new parts.
 


Yeah maybe like half a bottle would possibly lube the components, I'm not sure, just a hunch . I wasnt old enough or into cars enough at the time to remember how these cars sounded when they were new. But I def know a 3800 car without even looking lol.

With all new components maybe you need a Delco/diff brand pump ... I wonder what are the exact component/s that cause the whinning on these cars.
 
I'd definitely try the Lucas. Took care of my whine as soon as I turned the wheel in park twice. Only added half a bottle or less too.
 
Which lucas power steering fluid are you guys talking about? The lucas power steering stop leak? When I originally filled mine up after the rack, pump ,and lines were changed I used prestone power steering fluid.
 
Yes. The lucas stop leak. Just take some of your power steering fluid out with a turkey baster and replace that with the lucas.
 


Just about every "new" pump that you buy is re-manufactured or rebuilt, I made the mistake of buying one from A.Z. and got an ugly lump of tihs. Since I work at A.Z. I've heard countless stories of the pumps being bad out of the box. Best to avoid Cardone or Dorman, both have faulty air bleeding valves. You might try getting one from a junk (and try rebuilding it) or trying out an A/C Delco reman.
I'm in the same boat though, my old pump crapped out, got a reman unit and it's even worse. :(
 
I also had steering fluid leaking in my 40th Anniversary when it had 150K miles. I flushed out the steering system and added about 20 oz or so of Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak. I am at 223K miles now and the power steering is still holding up. I keep checking the P.S. reservoir and it is full. No noise from the pump anymore. It is worth a try.
I have a used rack and pinion system on standby just in case the rack gives out in the car.
