i just bought a 2000 grand prix gt and i got it for $3000 and it still runs except for the power steering is busted, i was told that the power steering fluid keeps leaking out of the car. and they had taken it to a mechanic who said it was the rack and pinion that needed to be replaced. I put some power steering sealer in the lines about 2 bottles. it seemed as if the power steering came back. I was able to turn the wheel freely without it fighting me. But when i turn there is a weird noise coming from the car. i was told the the power steering pump could be broken because the car was ran with no to little fluid in it which would have burned up the pump. its a loud whinny noise, it sounds like a super charger type whine noise, but this is only a gt. do you think that since the power steering seemed to come back that anything is wrong with the car? i looked under the car and it didnt seem as if it was leaking out. it just making a weird noise under like hard turns. any suggestions would help.

You need to bleed the power steering system. It has air in it from running dry. Get it up on stands and turn the wheel lock to lock several times, then lower it back down and check the fluid level. If low, top and and repeat the process until the fluid stays full and not full of bubbles from the air.

And before you complain about getting it off the ground to turn it lock to lock instead of just leaving it on the ground, I've found that this works better for bleeding the system and it also keeps uneccessary strain off the steering rack and tires since there is no resistance. I had to do this to an 06 Imp with noisy power steering and by the 5th cycle it finally was quiet as a mouse.

Love the keyboard check intro at the beginning of your post btw, lol...
