2000 3.1l Engine Noises



see if u have any play in power steering pulley, i bet bearings are bad and its causing the pulley to lock up a lil bit. causing rpms to drop a little maybe thats whats causing the surging noise in airbox.... reason i say this is cuz the ticking noise appears to be coming from power steering pump.
 


or the belt tensioner is screwed up riding up against the timing chain cover common problem on 3.1-3.4s id check that first:th_thumbsup-wink:
 
Does the car have any acceleration issues? Is the check engine light flashing? I was given a 03 SE and it had a pretty bad knocking sound. Poor acceleration and would often have to keep the gas depressed while braking. Turned out that one of the rockers stripped out of the head got caught between the next rocker and valve cover and pushed a push rod thru a rocker arm. So 1 helicoil, 1 rocker, and 2 push rods later I was good to go.
 
ok i finally got a chance 2 check and the noises r gone. i checked all the pullies and they are good. i dont know what made the noises stop but i have a feeling they will be back
 


Very random for that to happen. I'm wondering if you had a change in something like driving or anything. First thing that came in my mind was valve noises, but then i seen the video. Definitly not especially if they stopped without doing anything.
