20 inch rims questions

If i get 20 inch rims on my Grand prix 04 gtp comp g will it affect my car's computer?? I was wondering cause i have the tire pressure system and i am not sure if rims such as 20s will cause confusion in the computer part of my car. If someone has different size rims on their comp g or GTP or anyone else... please let me know. Or, if the rims will affect anything else that I may not be aware of in my car please let me know. Thanks

rims wont affect anything but the weight on the car. dont try hot dogging it with big heavy rims because your transmission will be toasted after a while.

i have no idea how the tire pressure system works or how it will change with different wheels and tires.

If you don't have the band that is inside the factory rims on your new rims, your check tire pressure light will stay on. I am not sure if it will fit 20's or just 16's. Some have a adjustable band, but not sure about GM,s. Sure a wheel shop would be able to tell you more on it. As for the 20's, that is atarting to push the limits on weight. I myself wouldn't go over a 18. And with the 18's, I could feel the difference from factory.

"As for the 20's, that is atarting to push the limits on weight. I myself wouldn't go over a 18. And with the 18's, I could feel the difference from factory." I am not planning on doing any racing with the 20 thats why i have stocks. If i just had the 20 as a regular driver would it still affect it i am seresly thinking about it cause i am about to buy some but i am not a hundred percent on it. Plz help i am really thinking about rims but if enough people say something else i would not go with the 20 and look for smaller ones.

it will still effect it. more rotational mass is more wear and tear on the transmission.

if you like them get them. theyll fit and possibly look good depending on what kind you get.

the tire pressure system doesnt stay on when you put wheels on that dont have TPMS. i have 20"s on my car and i havent seen any difference in gas mileage or the tranny but i always to rip around the streets with them on eaither. they will fir fine as long as you have a 35 series tire. GO FOR IT. post pics when you get them on

be careful man.....i had 22 inch foose spank 6's on my Tahoe at 20k miles and by 33k the tranny was shot and i did NOT run it hard at all. i would never go over 18's on my GTP. its just not worth it IMO, unless you only use it as a secondary vehicle....

Exactly. Yo may not think your hurting the tranny, but the weight does do a number on it. I had 18's on mine, but I think I am going to go only 17's when I get more.

shoot i was only going to use the rims in summer because i live up in mass so during the winter they would come off also i am in the process of buying a secondary car for the winter and have my gtp for shows.
