2 quick gas/octane questions

Is it fine to mix 93 and 89 octane to get 91? Probably a 60-40 split of 93 and 89 since gas difference here is about 30 cents. Does the car run better the higher the octane level? Theres a shell near my house that sells 95 octane.

how about we man up and pay the 3 extra dollars and run 93. or pony up for that 95, straight as well. i can get a 100 here but its 10 bucks a gal. i aint going that far lol

Or just find a place that sells 91 as that will be cheaper than 93.

If 93 is available use 93. The extra time it is going to take you to mix 93 and 89 will negate any "savings"

Lets just say that 89 is 2.49 and 93 is 2.79 and you need 10 gallons. A 5 gallon mix of each will cost you 26.40. Straight 93 will cost you 27.90. That's a grand total of 1.50 "savings" over 10 gallons. You will likely see less mpg on your mix and see more knock if you're logging.
