2.25" intercooler core and ASCD SD hood? Clearance issues

I'm looking to upgrade from an SSIC core to a fullsized.

I currently run a gen V with an adapter plate and LS1 TB. Clearance is tight as it is.

Does anyone have any experience with trying to fit a fullsized under an ASCD SD hood???

Here's a pic if it helps.

thanks, a guy named Farnsworth is the man to go for polishing and chroming.

Anyone have any input on a fullsized fitting?

from what i hear cradle spacers are the way to do it. Im at the same problem u are my friend. S3 with a Gen V.

Bio is right, the cradle spacers will throw off the geometry of the axles and therefore you'll start to see problems.

Well, as most of you can tell, the car is a show car, so cutting the hood really isn't something I'm interested in doing that this point to be honest. Doing so would require me to cut the hood, have it glassed, and painted again. I just don't have the funding for such an endeavor right now.

I'm going to see what my options are when it comes to upgrading my SSIC system... I'll report back with my findings ;) Thanks for the help all!

well not to thread jack copgtp, but is cutting the hood seriously the only option for the full sized Gen V IC'ed guys. I paid a G note for my Carbon Fiber SD Hood and dont wanna cut the hood.

Bio, i wasnt saying your wrong. So hope no hard feelings.

It maybe close. My hood is an ASCD HO hood (which is the same thing as yours, minus the rear vents like on the SD. I have the same scoops and Ram Air setup as you) and my 2.00" Intercooler Core fits without any issues and plenty of room. My only issue was that solinoid on the BBV, which I cut off that bracket (like you did) and relocated mine because of the Ram Air ducting. and all was well from there. In fact, I have enough room, I think I could fit a 3" core under my hood without any issues. Course I got a bit more room than you because of the lack of the rear sunk vents.

Heres what I did before I installed my intercooler. I bought a bunch of Play Doh, and I put a good about at the highest point of the S/C, TB, and the BBV... I closed the hood and measure the heights in those key areas, I repeated this test a couple times to ensure no errors. It worked flawless for me and I knew I had room from the begining, minus that BBV solinoid bracket of course which was an easy fix.

Try this method out and see where your at. You'll be close, but i'll bet it'll work. You already have one thing going for you, you have fuel rails which increases clearence another half inch-inch easy.

BTW, I noticed you boost solinoid that used to be on the BBV is completely gone, did you completely remove it? What codes need to be deleted or what PCM work needed to be done? I've been really meaning to get rid of mine and my EVAP too...

I was wondering the same thing...

I am pretty sure when you pull the solenoid you just have to change the fueling in the tune so it does not pull any fuel before a shift ect. When the bbv would pull boost.
