just pulled the heads after what was thought to be blown head gasket well more like plugged head gaskets coolant jackets had maybe a pin hole to get get coolant through anyway took the heads to the machine shop both are CRACKED any tips on how to check the block to make sure its good im already getting a new uim and obviously all new gaskets any help would be great thanx

As long as you didn't hydrolock it, eveything on the block should be good.

You may want to take your heads to a machine shop and have them checked out to be on the safe side.

If you're interested in an L26 UIM and LIM I have a set. It won't warp like the plastic UIM the L36 does.

yeah i took the heads in and there both shot getting a new set tomorrow frm a local salvage yard an getting them checked and probably a valve job

i got the new heads need cleaned up and probably a valve job done as for the push rods am i supposed to put each one back in the same slot it came out and the new heads didnt come with the ones that were in them there from two different cars a 96 bonneville and a 98 lesabre there all the same length so just wondering about that and are both the front and rear head identical let me know

if you marked/laid out the push rods out so you know where they were before the tear down, by all means put them back the way they were. same for your rockers.

the rockers and rods will wear together (over time) and fit better if put back where they came from as a working team. if not i guess its not the end of the world. but its recommended to put them back where they came from.

reuse the wires if new and un damaged, they should last at least a year. plugs you can change if they are messed up. best off to just put new ones in tho.

yeah the wires werent on for to long before all the fun drama went down with it ill proly use the plugs until i can afford some new ones damn iradium ones aint cheap lol

got it started everything is good except the temp gauge rises rather quickly but the motor itself isnt getting hot and the fans aerent kicking on its goin through the motor the thermostat is opening anybody have any clue i think there might be an air pocket but i cant get it out or find bleeder valve in it i was told to drive it and let it work itself out and add coolant as needed when it gets hot and i forgot to put the rear exhaust manifold gasket back on any prob with that somebody please help lol
