Re: 1997 Black GTP, She's Now A Snow Plow.

lol them windshield wipers do hook up kinda weird. I had to tighten my wipers onto the transmission rod or whatever you call it. the snow knocked it all outta whack. i hate our wipers.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, She's Now A Snow Plow.

The tail lights are in the oven and baking at 190* to help get all the condensation out.

All condensation is gone, but there is still actual water in the bottom of the tail light by the reflector. Any thoughts on how to remove that?

Putting my LED Tail Light in the oven makes me quite nervous.

Ive probably checked on it 20 times in 40 minutes.

yea open them up, hand cloth wipe them clean/dry. reseal them yourself.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, She's Now A Snow Plow.

I baked the tail lights for awhile at 200* and i finally took it out when all condensation looked like it was gone.

Once i took it out, the whole tail lights fogged up completely. Change in temp caused this from? from oven to normal house temp?

So its been sitting in my room for 2 days now and it wont get any better than this. There is a small stream of water along the bottom of the Tail Light by the reflector that i have no idea how to get out, or get too.

I need help, any suggestions?

On a good note though, i was driving to the gym and i was on the highway. A nice long straight stretch without any cars close so i decided to bring the GTP up to speed. Going about 3/4 throttle from 70-100 then i punched it at 100 to 120. Pulled decently at that high speed, no shake or vibrations. Looks like the old girl can still hold up to speeds at 120+

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Need A Little Help.

Tranny works like a champ, good deal!!..... did you try at all to seperate the lenses when you were doing all the baking?

JLiss said it right.

Yeah, my trans shift quite hard with the shift kit. I enjoy it. Relief to have that rebuilt with some extra parts.

I have no idea how to separate the Lens from the tail light it self. Seems a little sketchy to me. i dont want to ruin anything

They are non-returnable though.

So now what?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Need A Little Help.

He did have to re-seal his but he got all the water out by baking his.

I tried baking mine, didnt work and some of the chrome on the tail light started to fade so i had to quit baking it.

Im stumped.

Do you happen to have a dehumidifier? You could try laying one of those by the taillights overnight and see if it removes the condisation.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Need A Little Help.

Great idea actually. Someone in my family has one, ill give that a try for sure.

Im open to all options.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Need A Little Help.

You're baking them, that is part of the whole process to remove the lenses...
Start prying on the edges slowly working your way around, and putting them back in the oven as necessary to expand the glue.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Need A Little Help.

You're going to tint them anyways... right?

You'll never notice some fading once tinted, and being LED lights, it doesn't need the chrome to reflect off of, so no worries.
