Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Well, got good news and bad news.

Bad: i took my car for a nice long drive today after everything got put on. I lost one of my lower chrome grilles, i didnt put it on secure enough :( so if you have a lower chrome grille laying around (or a pair) Let me know cause i need one!

Good: My friend has a Canon t2i camera with some professional lens and thursday night were going out for a photoshoot to get some Real good looking pictures instead of sh** cell phone quality. So be prepared for a the photoshoot to be uploaded thursday late night or friday morning.

Lol so buy a set of wheels like my old set. They're cheap. But be prepared to rub a lot.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Only thing I hate about the SE lip is of course the middle fitment but thats sort of expected and how high it makes the side skirts appear now. But it does look badass and looks to be worth the wait i would say. NOW LOWER IT...even on stock rims it'll look fine. I had mine lowered on stockers at one point in time. Or you could get spacers.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Im different. Not a fan of the tires being sucked up in the fender. I love the stance of nice fat tires on the car like these.

I agree 100%. I love an aggressive stance ∞ x's more than just tucked and low.

That being said tho, you could get the ssc's and lower to give the look, and then roll the fenders and measure out what spacer you would need and get a small spacer to push the wheels out if you want to keep these wheels. It would give you low and the push for that look you like.

PS: New hood/lip... Sex. Just SEX! Good job dude. :th_thumb-up:

Thanks Sheff! See, at least your on the same page as me, tucked up stock tires in the fenders just looks a tad goofy. if your going to lower, go all out and at least get some nice fat tires. Thats just my opinion though. Either way, im sure some lower would look better than none at all. Ill probably just buy some 1 inch spacers for now off ebay, lower the car and call it a day until i get some real funding and can afford new tires and rims. But wheel spacers with SSC springs wouldnt look half bad and for cheap too. Ya feel me?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Might wanna check everything before you throw a 1" spacer. It doesn't sound like alot but it really REALLY is. You may also need longer wheel studs to accommodate.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Aw man i really want to get an SD hood for my 97 GTP. Where'd you get it and how much??

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

im with u, i love the look of the fat tires and rims, but i hate the rubbing everytime u hit a lil bump, just went thru it, have MSR045 with fat BFG KDW and rubbed everytime i hit a bump, not worth it IMO, lol but id woulda traded my rims for those factory ones without a problem

Then what size spacers would you recommend?

PFYC.com its like $580 then plus shipping. Then you have to get it painted. Its Super expensive but well worth it in the end.

I guess i wasnt so aware of the rubbing non-stop. Maybe i should find a happy medium then? Tires a tad wider than stock but not super wide to rub.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Got some questions real quick:

Is there kind of grille insert to go in the front hood vents? I want them to match my chrome grilles i already have. Or do i need to make some myself?

And for this little opening on the air dam? im sure i would have to make these ones for sure but how would i go about doing so?

AND, why in the hell arent the front vents functional? Only the back ones are open. The front vents on the hood are closed off. then whats the point of a Functioning Ram Air Hood? wtf. So water and debris dont get inside the engine bay?

Truthfully, I would lower first, and then measure from the front of the wheel to the fender and figure where you want the edge of the wheel to be at and see what size you need at that point. That way you get exactly the size you need. Also lowering should push the wheels out a hair bit anyways, not much but lower suspension usually gives a slight push out. So if you got the right spacer then lowered it, it may throw it off and you have to get a whole new set of spacers.

I'm just not a fan of doing something and then having to re-do it all over again.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

Well im not either, it would be just a waste of money. Thats why im asking you first, to do it right the first time.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

hey I got the carbon fiber version of this and the front vents are functional I had to have someone point me to the custom airbox they make for them to understand but it channels the air in between the layers of the hood to an output hole mounted near your driver side

I didnt think they were functional because the front vents seem to be blocked off.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

The fronts shouldn't be blocked off, it should divert over to the side, which being black may be hard to see, but it looks like it just has grills put in to keep leaves and junk out. no?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Front Air Dam & SD Hood ARE ON AND INSTALLED.

by blocked off you mean you couldn't see light through them?
