Ive been told that the 97' Trans is the worst of the all the years from 97+ these engine seem to last forever if taken care of

.i do my own work on my engine to keep it up.. but only thing im needing to change is the sc coupler... and find out where dis evap leak is.. its keepin my ces light on and its aggravating me

I wish i knew how to do my own work on engine/trans, theres so many plans i have for my car but ill have to bring it in to get it all done.

Painted the dash trim red, and free handed the GTP on it, didnt turn out the way i wanted but it was a coll idea, overall i didnt like the red dash, you either have to paint a lot red on the interior or none at all, you have to go all or nothing, but i also painted the hubcaps black too, look a lot better on than just the steel rims. She is now winter ready!

Here's some pictures of the flaws of the car, any idea's how much it would cost to get fixed? Gas cap area is typical for these cars. the last pic is also dent if you can't see it, girlfriend backed into my car, made me real happy.

I agree, i like the hubcaps alot better. im not trying to make my car look awful for the winter

If the rust isn't too deep or bad all you have to do is completely sand it away, or you will have to clip the metal off and replace it. I just bought the Dupli-color spray paint and clear coat, along with primer. I used 120ish grit sand paper, 60 in really bad spots, then wetsanded with 1,000-2,000 grit around the area to smooth it out. Then I did two coats of primer, wet sanding after each coat and blending it in, and about three light coats of the paint. Then I sprayed about 2-3 coats of the clear coat, let it dry over night, then wet sanded it down..then put a few coats of Meguiars polish on.

Some of those scruffs might buff out. Or you might have to wet sand the area down and repaint the area.

First true snowfall here for me in Michigan, sucks my car has to stay outside. Snow on my car makes me sad :(

i dont know what i'd do without FWD in michigan snow. I Agree so much Grand prix FWD, FTW!

My 97 trans has 284k miles on it and still kicking. Seems quite strong to get that kind of miles on it.

i hope i get lucky like you with 284k miles and running strong. My mechanic i go to said ill need to rebuild my tranny, but he hates grand prix's and always messed with me so i dont know if he was kidding or not. to me my trans seems just fine.
