Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

hmmm X controls climate control too I guess. Strange, never worked with the X model before, just the RC.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

This is for the SWI-RC, should be the same for the X. They didn't have a specific one for the X for the Grand prix. This also tells you what wire to tap into.

There is a list you go down on the page for what order you program the thing, you get it into program mod, press the button the steering wheel in that order...so Volume up, hold for 2 seconds after the led goes out, then release, then press volume down and hold for 2 seconds, LED out release. To skip press the program button.

http://www.pac-audio.com/SWI/SWIApp...g but without Temp controls on steering wheel.

Yup. I followed the exact process and read the article as well when trying to program it.

Trust me, I tried it all.

Nice wheels! What tires are those. They look like my hankook v12s. 245s?

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

Few things done with the car here and there.

Had a short in my Halos/Foglights (they are wired to a switch together). Fixed that.
Load resistor went bad in my passenger side LED Tail light causing hyper flash. Got a new Load Resistor and fixed that issue.

Starting to re-do my Audio System. Currently I have:
-Kenwood DDX418 Double Din
-5.25" Pioneer speakers W/ Pioneer Tweeters
-6x9" Kenwood Performance Series
-12" Alpine Type R w/ a Kenwood 1800w Mono amp
-1000w Sony Xplod 2 channel powering my door speakers

Kind of a bunch of random stuff put together. Sounds "Decent." I'd like to switch all over to Alpine stuff (Besides the new Double Din)

Searched on Craiglist and came across this new 5-channel Alpine amp for really cheap, to power my door speakers:

And Installed:

I tell you what, this smaller Alpine amp blows my old 1000w Sony Xplod amp out of the water. WAY better. It's all about quality.. not quantity.

I will soon buy Alpine Type R 6x9" Rear speakers and upgrade to Alpine Type R 6.5" Front Speakers. (I believe 6.5" will fit up front with minor work?), and also replace my large Kenwood amp for the sub with an Alpine MRX-m110 1100w Amp.

I also picked up another Gen V and LIM that I am currently cleaning up and painting. Will be up for sale tomorrow hopefully.

As a side note, I am rebuilding a 4L60e Transmission, here is my progress:

At this point, I have it completely torn down and everything disassembled. Just wainting on the rebuild kit, which will be ready to go on Monday.

Now this isn't really about my car, but here's some recent pictures of my daughter. As she turned 1 month on January 14th.

Girlfriend with our Daughter:

Got some professional photos done:

And here's just me holding Presley:

There is a little bit of a life update, rather than just car update.

Words of wisdom from someone much older and wiser than me...

The most important person in a little girls life is her daddy. She was born knowing how to be a girl. She learns from her dad what a man should be.

Okay, back to car stuff... Kudos to you for keeping a car that clean in Michigan! Looks good!

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

Awesome to see you got the tail light fixed.

Don't be afraid to teach your daughter to spin some wrenches LOL.

Here's my daughter showing Brandon how to rebuild his throttle body a few years ago.

Thats some great words of wisdom.

Currently, my daughter probably just thinks I'm some random guy at the moment as shes always with her mother. I see my daughter every 2-3 days or so, since we aren't living together.

Thanks to your help ;)

I keep telling my girlfriend I will be putting Presley in a Baby Bjorn on my chest when work on the car!

This is a fantastic picture. Brandon needs as much help as he can get with his car.

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

I had an online coupon for $50 off $100 spent at Advanced Auto. Didn't really need anything for that kind of money, but wanted to use the coupon. Since I'm upgrading to F-Body brakes sometime in the future, I decided to buy a good set of front brake pads. Purchased some Hawk Performance Ceramic. But after some research, I noticed the Hawk HPS had a better "bite" to them. So I called Advanced to cancel my order. Ended up trying to buy the HPS pads, but the coupon didn't work anymore so, I didn't purchase anything.

Today, I ended up getting the Hawk Ceramic pads in the mail anyways. Which were almost $100 for just the fronts for an F-body. So I got some free nice brake pads. Even the HPS might be a little bit better, these were free so I will not return them. Pretty happy with a free set of good brake pads. Lol

Also, after 3.5 years of owning my car, and every other thing I've done it, my rear windows have never worked. But who needs those anyways? I never sit back there. But finally, this past weekend, I replaced both window motors and regulators. So now all 4 windows are working for the first time ever. Yay.

As a side note, is it spring time yet? I want my rims on. :(

i need my back windows to work. would drive me nuts.

when your driving around if you crack your door window wind kicks in and hits my head. crack the back window the same amount down as the front, that BS stops.

I think you're just a little bit too picky ;)

Re: 1997 Black GTP, Double Din Complete W/ New Wheels Installed.

Well it was pretty dry weekend here in Michigan, so I decided to throw the rims on the car for a few days. I also pulled my Front Air Dam out of storage since I need to start sanding it down to re-paint it. Before I started working on it, I put it on with the rims.

And Oh. My. God. the two of those put together makes the car look amazing. Can't wait for spring time to have them officially on for good.

* And sorry for the sh1tty phone pictures. Just wanted to take some while I was out-n-about.

Tax return money should be coming back sometime this month, and I'm deciding on what to buy for the car. My next two upgrades will be lowering the car and F-Body brakes.

I currently have SSC springs, 4 new KYB strut mounts, and 4 Anti-pogo washers. All I'm missing is the KYB GR-2 Excel struts. Then it can all be put together to lower the car in the Spring.

But I also want to fill the space behind the rims with some bigger brakes. New F-Body Calipers / Drilled-Slotted Rotors / Hardware / Rear Drilled-Slotted Rotors / Rear Pads (Since I'll be replacing my rear brakes at this time too, and already have Hawk pads for the F-Bodies right now, and yes I know Drilled/Slotted rotors are pointless but I want the looks ;) ) will be about $330 shipped for everything off Rockauto. then I'd still need the extended front stainless brake lines. Hmmmm.

I'm more leaning towards getting the car lowered right now, since it will be cheaper.

I am going to need one.

This setup will rub a lot. It already does on stock ride height when doing a completely fully turn.
