1994 Grand Prix SE Front Modification Possible?

I love my 94 Grand Prix SE, it's my first car and maybe that's why. My only beef with it, for whatever reason, is the way the lights are on the front. The style I have is:

I'm wondering if it's at all possible to change it over to this style:

I know it would be a lot of work, a new paint job, etc, but I'm wonder if anyone has experienced doing this before or has any information on it?
 


Is it possible though? The car is in excellent condition. I'm just wondering if the modification is possible. I can't buy another car in that style, money doesn't allow for it.
 
I think it would look great. I like that front facia. I was just using the link because it was the same year and the front you were talking about. The car in the link itself is a pos. I say do it man.
 


You know of anyone who's done this? or have heard of this? I'm just looking at what big trouble I'd run into. I know it would be quite a bit of work.
 
I haven't heard of anyone doing it, but anything is possible. If you find the parts of the ssame year, I don't see why it wouldn't be a easy job. Should only have to change bumper, lights, and maybe a few brackets. And it looks like you have one bulb for your low/high beams. With that all you'll have to do is cut the plugs off the car and splice them in to yours. If you can find a doner car iin the scrap yard, you'd be set. Could be done in a day or a weekend if you don't have really good mechanical skills. Wish I lived closer to ya. It would be fun to help.
 
I can remember someone doing this to a 93 GP 4-door years ago. IIRC, they used the older non B4U style parts (91-93), used the front bumper and the rear bumper and considering it didn't have the B4U side moldings, it blended in well and looked good.

I'd vote, if you love the car and are willing to spend the time and money, do it! Be one of the few that have done it.

By the way, i'm talking about this style non-B4U. B4U would be too much work because you'd have to somehow blend in the fiberglass flares into 4-door moldings.

Thanks for the input, as soon as I get a morning free I'm going to head out and check the junk yards. I'd also like to get the rims that you see on most of them, given my plastic rim covers are alright, they look old. :P

On a side note; one thing that really gets annoying is my lack of cup holder(s). I don't have any. It should be a pretty straight forward job removing the bench seat and adding the buckets, but do you think the console is movable as well?
 
Take your time and do it right and you can do anything you want. I might be alot of putting in and taking out, but be patient with iit and install it correctly.
 


For sure, I like my car and it's something I want to keep and maintain for as long as possible. I'm not bad with mechanical stuff, just fairly new to it, but I do enjoy it.

It will probably take me awhile to get the parts and stuff I want, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I'd obviously be looking at a paint job when it's all installed to unify the colors, etc. I considered seeing if they had the newer style exhaust tips at the junkyard as well and replacing the old ones with those, as long as they fit.

I'll try to post a few pictures of my car and explain what I want to do in detail and maybe someone can give me some input and let me know if there are any major hazards I'd run into while doing it.

If yo can find a complete car and have some where to keep it, I'd try and buy the whole thing for cheap. That way any part you need would be readily available. Then when your all done and get everything you need of, you can either part it out and make some money back or sell it back to a scrap yard.
 
Yes you can do it. It just won't look right because the bumper will be wider than the car because the rest of the B4U kit that is on the 2 doors won't be there. The B4U kit has flares that go over the fender lips that helps the front/rear bumpers and side skirts flow with the car. With no flares, it will look like this (using the car in the link above as a reference)

Notice how the bumper will stick out more than the fender. But yes you can do it!! :th_thumb-up:

:edit: And only the front/rear bumpers will bolt up the car, as well as the flares for the fenders. The side skirts however, won't fit obviously because of the 4 door. And to my knowledge, nobody's made a custom side skirt for the 4 doors to make the whole B4U look good.
 
Hmm, I really wouldn't want the bumper sticking out like that. My only problem is the middle light, it's dull and looks dim. Would there be a way to increase the light it gives off to match my headlights? If I could get some kind of unicen out of it, it wouldn't be too bad. I had flirted with the idea of getting a custom leather wrap for that light alone, and have the badge/emblem in the center the only thing that shines through with a nice bright white/red back light to eluminate it, but I'm not sure how feasible or doable that idea is.

I'm new as far as car upgrades go, but I was curious as to what bolt ons/etc upgrades would fit on the car. It has always been undercoated and the body/frame is in great condition so I also considered putting a bigger engine in later down the road. It might sound foolish, but I am a huge fan of the car and would like to keep it as long as I can.
 
As Iron Indian said, swapping the front and rear bumper covers with those off a B4U equipped 2-door HAS been done at least once before. While I loved how the front and rear looked, it just didn't look right without the middle. It's a decent chunk of work, and very time consuming. You'll need the front and rear fascias, and the whole mini-quad headlight assembly (lights, brackets, panel, etc). Then comes the fabricating to get it all to fit:

If you want to get a bit more light out of the light bar, buff all the grime off of it, and polish it. Keep in mind though that the light bar in the middle is not meant to be as bright as the actual headlights. Another option is what Oldskool did to his 4-door:

He just sanded it down to rough up the surface, and painted over it as far as I know. The tires are 245/50/16 Fuzion ZRi's mounted on the 16" x 8" factory crosslace wheels available on the '89 - '96 coupes.
 
I think I will try that first to see how it looks. I'm going to pick up one from the junk yard though just so I don't ruin mine if I mess it up. What grain should I use on it?
