1990 grand prix power steering?

I just bought a 1990 Grand Prix with a 3.1 V6.The previous owner told me that about 2 years ago, ( i don't know why he never looked at it), he was pulling out of a gas station and heard a POP, noticed a big puddle of fluid under the car, and lost his power steering. The only thing he did to try and fix it was put more fluid in it. he didn't have anybody look at it or anything. i don't know anything about power steering or where any lines are or anything. Driving with no power steering sucks so any advice on what might of happened and/or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated, and if i would have to get parts a rough estimate on the cost would also help. Also i need to replace wheel bearings. It a really loud annoying humming that goes away if i turn one way. Am I going to need any specific tools to do the wheel bearings? I've never done them before but was told they're not to bed. Thanks alot for and advice.

as for the power steering, number of things could of happened:
either the one of the hoses poped, or a seal blew. my 97 has no power steering right now, the rack & Pinion has bad seals... :th_laugh-lol3:

do you have any ideas of where to start looking? i know where the power steering fluid reservoir is, where you put the fluid in, but thats it as far as anything power steering related goes. so if you could help me out with where to look that would be great.
Thanks

You will need to get under the car. You will see the reservoir and hoses coming from it. Check the hoses to make sure none of them have split open or anything like that.

I guess the Rack & Pinion went which caused pressure to get backed up and ruin the pump. but i replaced the wheel bearings and stopped that annoying humming. thanks for the replies
