18s, 19s, etc.?

Hey guys. I want to be ordering some American Muscle GT500 Replicas for my GP once I get a few more mods on..and I was wondering about your input on wheel size. They'll only be on the car in the dry (as in, no snow) seasons, but I wanted to know some of the effects of wheel size on our GPs. I know the rims are, the more they affect the transmission, but what's the difference for mileage and such for 18s or 19s, vs my stock (16s?) rims? Will they have a major affect on my transmission only being on for about 60-70% of the year? How can I expect my car's performance to be affected? And lastly, which looks better? (I realize it's an inch of a difference, but different strokes for different folks.)

$700 in tires.

just get 18s or 20s, both will be cheaper and easier in the end.

Well, rims and new set of Pirelli's, I found a 4-set for $1300..and that should last me a while for only having them on for 60-70% of the year. Those were 19s, I haven't looked into 18s. Also, how would you guys go about lowering my car? Eibach springs?

How much cheaper are you guys thinking the 18s would be? I don't feel like going with 20s, it seems like the 19s or 18s would be big enough/enough work as it is.

18's will hand down be cheaper, 19's are the most costly tire out there, very few companys make that size.

Read up on lowering your car and you'll figure out what you need. (struts, mounts, anti pogo washer, spacers, springs etc etc)

i got eibachs for $230 on ebay. gr2/exel-g struts for around $270, antipogos $25

so around $525. and i bought a spring compressor tool for $39

There really aren't any good tires in any good sizes.

18x8 wrapped in 245/45's are "easier".

The website wheel calc. I referenced said, 245/50 17 fits on 7.5"-9" wheel, & has same outside dia.--26.7". Tirerack has Kumho for both 245/45 18 & 245/50 17 & 245/50 17 are cheaper.

Is fitment info true? Is it safe to run 245/50 17 tires on 17/7.5 wheels?

For tires, I am looking for all season. tirerack has kumho ecsta 4x; 245/50 17 =$136, & 245/45 18 = $165.
