1406 EGR problems

hey, im new to these forums but when i searched for troubleshooting my egr i was lead here.

im getting a code 1406 possible failed EGR valve but i read somewhere people replace them and still see the service engine light. wondering if i should bother trying to clean it , if anyone has ANY advice its welcome before i drop 200 bucks on a new one that could possibly not fix the issue
 


just remove it....i got rid of mine two weeks ago and am very happy i did. u will need to find someone with a scanner to erase the codes for the egr adn then take two pennies and seal the opening in the ezhaust and intake with two pennies and some gasket sealant. its not only functional but it really cleans up the engine bay
