12 disc changer not working

I have a 98 GT that i guess has factory 12disc pioneer changer. it works and the little screen says disc is playing. but its not on my radio. I dont know if its the stereo or a cable. How do i change the disc form one in player to the magazine in the changer
 


if it says pioneer it's aftermarket, so you probably have an rf converter turn the radio to fm and do a channel scan I bet it comes up in the low 90's or upper 80's
 
well was going to try that today and now its not working. it keeps shuffling through the magazine and it says ERROR60 on the changer. what the crap
 
Looking for Error 60 on Google it's generally a reading error between the changer and the head unit. Suggestions ranged from checking with the manufacturer of the unit to possibly being the head unit as well.

I personally would search Pioneer's website for your model number of the changer and see if your are able to find the Error 60 code in their reference manual.

That's my best suggestion. Sorry I could not be more specific without knowing the model number of changer you have.
 
Its a factory head unit. I was reading the manual, and there is a #3 button that has the program and the the #4 has the random. well mine has a #3 as the random and no #4. But the manual said that the program (#3) button was to change to the disc changer. But i dont know I have a sony head unit im going to swtich. I think the connection is bad and the fact that the CD is burned. So il post later and see what i can figure out. THANKS FOR THE HELP THOUGH> Very quick response:th_thumbsup-wink:
 


ok. Everything seems to be hooked up fine. I should have just done the channel surf in the first place. when i turn the changer on the stereo loses a bit of signal and i do a channel search it goes to 89.1 everytime. But no for some odd reason none of my discs work. I have 5 in and it starts readin "12 READY" after 2 minutes of shuffleing it says "ERR60". I've googled "error 60 for pioneer" and anything i can think of and still nothing. I was informed the wife stuck the magazine in wrong way and she somehow got it out. But no pry marks or nothing internally wrong that i can see. Anymore ideas, this is killing me or is it just time for new changer.

Well obviously it is going to be a reading issue between the head unit and the CD Changer. I wish I could tell you which was more at fault than the other, but that is hard to do. Did you buy the Changer new or used?

Personally myself I would just go with a new HU and get one with a USB connection. I love my Pioneer 6000. I just hook up an 8gb USB key and all my music right there. I dont even keep any CDs in my car now :)

You can find them for $200-250 depending on where you look. Well worth it in my opinion :)
 
well honeslty i think its f'edand it was already in the car. I guess ill replace it can i use all these other wires or do i have to run new ones. They sucked. I pulled the radio out and it was a mess who ever did it. Wires were wrapped in tape, and the antenna cables that are hooked up there was like 7 extra ft just laying in there. GOD. but thanks guys ill get a new one and if it dont work Ill know i just wasted money. lol
 
oops another question. I finally got ahold of Prioneer help line and he said error60 was a scratched disc. I told him that it was a brand new disc he kept assuring me it was a scratch. lol.
even after 7 more discs same problem nothing but the shuffle then error. So thats what the "PROFESSIONAL" told me.
 


if that's for a scratched disc the pickup is bad in the changer, repairable, but it is almost as much as a whole new changer
 
sorry to bug about his thing. But I bought a lense cleaner and i was looking and listening to the changer, its not even pulling the disc or slide out of the magazine its just running up and down. Any other ideas.I dont absolutely need a changer but its nice to use since its in here.

Does anyone have a small changer mounted in the center console my father in law has a factory one mounted in his explorer console its like a10 or 6 or someting i dont remember. but he still has roomfor junk in it. anyone have one in there GP
