100 RPM Fluctuations

This might be a totally stupid question, but I'm curious.

Are frequent fluctuations of about 100 RPMs at idle normal?

While I'm sitting in park, I noticed that my RPMs are bouncing between 700-800 RPMs the whole time. Meaning, its not holding steady on the gauge.

The car itself seems to drive fine and I recently replaced a vacuum line and cleaned the MAF sensor.

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

im sure shes estimating... when i had a vac leak, if u looked hard enough u could see the needle barley dip down and up.

THAT is weak sauce. even so, 100 rpm fluctuation is nothing to be worried about. a vacuum leak of that level is small. you might not even find it.

I agree with Bio on this one. A vacuum leak that small is not worth your time trying to find. As long as you don't have a check engine light on I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm more or less just worried about not passing inspection this month in NYS.

I guess I have to just try and see what happens.

just get it in for an inspection early so if you fail you have time to look. 100 rpms is something i wouldn't be too worried about

if all else fails get a wrench and put a slight twist on all the intake bolts, dont crank them just resnug them, sadly this is an issue i had with my l67
