I know exactly what you mean. The spoke connects directly to the outside lip and doesn't sit anywhere inside the rim. I'll look for ya when I have time ;)

No I agree that black accents look good on white cars, I just think black rims are much more than an accent. Maybe if there were some white accenting on the rims to balance out the black it would look alright. Perhaps a white stroke on the spokes and the lip? I actually have black pinstriping down the side of my car, got black grilles to replace the plastic silver painted ones (I hated those lol) and got the reflective black arrowhead overlay.
 
Black rims on white cars are sweet. thought about getting some rims instead of tires cause my car is not safely drivable right now and needs front tires sumthin fierce, they got the yellow striping showing whatever that is lol.
 
Psht, I had mine down to the metal mesh before I replaced them LOL.

EDIT: Btw the car is up for auction again whenever you get the chance ;)
