08 GP will not lock but will unlock

I have having a very weird issue with my Wife 08 GP. Her is is not locking about 75% of the time. It will not auto lock, lock with the fob, or when the switch on the door. It will unlock just fine. When I click for it to lock from the inside of the car I hear a clicking coming from near the driver's side door but the door does not lokc.

I had some luck with hitting the key fob to unlock a few times and then the locking starting to work again for a few days. Now it is not back to working. I am just trying to figure out what is affecting all the doors from locking but still allowing all the door to unlock when the doors will lock.

Thanks for any help.

@veener79, I can understand how frustrating this can be to try to get this figured out on your own. You may want to contact your local GM dealership’s service department to see if they can offer additional things to check.

sounds like the lock actuator is crapping out on ya. if its just the one door acting up.

i had the same problem with my regal on a back door, it would open but not lock, made a horrid sound when locking the doors. being its a back door, i just unplugged it to stop the noise. and i leave it locked all the time. open it by hand now lol

I try to avoid them. When I started to work on my now Wife's car the dealer in the area thought the drain plug needed to be torqued down like a lug nut. I had to replace the drain plug when I did her first oil change because it was stretched and the rubber seal at the end was showing damage from the over torquing. It was just nuts trying to get that plug loose. Then when she goes there they are always trying to add on stuff that is not needed.

Since it affects all the doors I am guessing it is a actuator like Scottdoggs sait. I am not 100% sure. I am going to have to keep look int it.

no one likes the dealerships. especially if your out of warranty. they are proven over and over to be thief's.

they are easy to get to. take the inside door skin off, and its located near the lock inside the door. if you cant see it, work the power lock and feel for it.

When it does it into none of the doors work. Think I have a bad connection on a pin some were. It only does it for the most part when it is very cold outside. When it warms up in the garage it goes back to working. Door switch and keyless lock does not work.

open you fob and clean it, i use rubbing alcohol and Q tips. clean the buttons and the board contacts.

my spare fob is done like that. works just fine.

edit: theres metallic paint on the buttons, it wears off. you can also buy a new button pad from ebay for about 5 bucks.

I'm having the same issue with my impala. It wont auto lock or lock when I hit the lock on the inside. I have to lock every door by hand. When I push the lock button on the inside it clicks then unlocks. I do not have a remote that works. I figured it was bcm problems. Anyone else have ideas?

Looking at the Impala forums I found more of them having this issue. If it is all doors not working with the switch or the fob it looks to be a relay issue. There is one relay for locking and one for unlocking. I am going to try and get a new Relay first and try that.

Right now though I am trying to find out where the relay is located at on this car. I am finding mixed on the impala it is either by the passanger side fuse box or by the drivers side parking brake. I am not sure what one.
