Ok, I am new to the site but not new to gp's. But new to the new gen. I now have the 04 L36 base gp. I have tint pinstripes hot wheels rims so far for visual (pics to come). I have blown the forward power band and am looking to go to gt trans and ECM.
Is it needed ? Also looking to upgrade performance. Have been bird dogging the 3800performance site. Was looking at doing MSG coil packs dual platinum plugs performance wired the k&n cold air port and polished headers and a catback. Anyone have good ideas without going to sc or tb upgrade. Idea is to make a fun everyday driver and still want to showcase the go pride in performance.

No platinum plugs either. And do you mean l26? The l36 was a Series II.

Why Oem only ? Thought maybe if I did ignition intake and flashed ECM I would get better numbers out of it. Also was trying to figure out best exhaust sound. I had 98 gt had borla hi flow cat back and loved the sound

well it would sound the same. and you mean tune the pcm. and msd ignition coils are garbage for our motors

Unless he gets a 06-07 GT trans. And yeah I swore the 04 base was a GT.

Closed your other thread and changed the Title on this one.

You have a 07 base model with a L26 motor, not a L36. L36 is 95-03 only, L26 is the new design,

Platinum plugs and MSD coils are junk. You cant up horse power by changing the ignition system, the car can only produce so much voltage, swapping coils and plugs can't change that.

Iridium plugs and copper core plugs are the only plugs you can run in these cars. Anything else will run like ass and cause problems.

Read the Modding thread like posted above, it has info you want. And the 07 PCM can't be tuned, you would have to buy a different year (04-05) and get that one tuned, and your gas gauge will read backwards. I suggest alot of reading to understand how to mod these cars.
 
I was talking to the guy at the trans shop and he said the gt trans is way better but I'd have to get the gt ECM should I upgrade as I swap the trans or is it not that big of a difference ?

The trans is not better, its exaclty the same, only the gear ratio is different and the HD diff which means jack.

Get yours rebuilt or find another from a junkyard, you will not be able to use a HD trans.
 
Ok that helps me start modding this gp, so mid you I'm reading the modding thread what do you suggest for performance modding this l26 gp lol
