'07 GXP - Bish is a little louder now

Re: '07 GXP - Scratched.

Well not to be a smart ass but if its down to the metal the clear coat is definitely gone

Re: '07 GXP - Scratched.

So the road trip to SD was a success.. No flat tires, no engine problems, no warning lights, nothing. Great trip.. but too much driving.. 1424 miles averaging 24 mph i think. Tranny tempt stayed under 200* which was great with all the hills out there. but all around great trip.. there was a corvette rally going on in Sturgis so there were Vets everywhere. Stopped at a place and saw this bad larry.

for those of you that don't know this.. is this a 2012 callaway limited edition vet. I stopped and talked to the guy and the plate number is the factory production number or something..and the B2K1 I guess is meaning that it was the first one off the line of the only 25 that were made. This thing was like all carbon fiber and was super charged. 600+ hp. was so nice. This was the old dude telling me this, i haven't looked up the car myself yet.

and then saw this larry while at the gas station.. thought it was pretty slick to see an oldy out there

this was the place we were staying at... unbelievible

had to get one with the GXP in it.

the grooms family rides a ton of bike so heres a few Harley's they have.

while down by Mount Rushmore saw this GXP

(don't ban me cause its a Solstice.)

snapped a few pics of the GP while at some places
(i parallel parked this too.. i was pretty impressed with myself!)

Re: '07 GXP - Scratched.

so matt, what do i do for putting a clear coat back on then?

What I would do if your going to use the toothpick touchup paint method is..fill the scratch enough to get the scratch filled. then wetsand to try to level the scratch down, compound/polish. Hopefully by then the wetsanding marks are completely gone then I would spray some rubbing alcohol over the scratch to remove any compound or polish that might of been left behind. then Spray a clear coat over it I would do 2 maybe 3 coats.(i'm not a fan of duplicolors clearcoat so i would try another brand). Once that's done evaluate how it looks and if needed you could always lightly wetsand the clear coat then buff and polish if needed. Try not to overdo it and remove a lot of clear coat. Oh and obviously tape the area around the scratch so that your only working on that area and not messing up the rest of your paint.
