'06 scooby 2.5i, stock and sold

Re: my 2006 scoobie

that WRX badge came off immediately after i got home. i did a whole trunk lid swap with someone who wanted to go wingless. its not on the car.

Re: my 2006 scoobie

I like the wrx wing. It will all come together once its lowered and the new rims are on alon with tint. Im interesting in seeing the other exhuast tip too

Re: my 2006 scoobie

received my new tinted tails yesterday...

as i thought, the tint job on them sucks balls. therefore, instead of running them and working on the tails that are on my car, im going to attempt taking the tint off and working these ones over so i dont have to run a ****ty looking set in the mean time. when the guy says 'the tint job is perfect', but i can clearly tell in the pictures that they are dull and have an uneven distribution of tint then something is wrong. oh well, at least they are in good condition overall so hopefully i can make them work.

Re: my 2006 scoobie

You shoulda just bought stock untinted tails and done it yourself, I mean that way if you mess up, it's your fault ;)

Let see what they look like now

Re: my 2006 scoobie

ill take a picture or two when i get home. the tint job is really bad. i seriously could have done a better job with my eyes closed (given that i know how to paint fairly well..).

Re: my 2006 scoobie

Caliper cleaner works awesome...for real. I've used it on plenty of sets and it doesn't harm the plastic at all...at least on Cobalt and WBody tails...and the few DSM's I did as well.

Re: my 2006 scoobie

I'll be using it to re-do the ones on my cobalt...I got a few runs and light spots...they were done on like a 50* day so I don't think they dried quite right.

Re: my 2006 scoobie

I think hes talking about the stuff that comes with the duplicolor caliper kit. yes?

Re: my 2006 scoobie

hm, i see. well, since it's dark outside and not enough light in my garage to take a nice picture of the tails with my phone i will steal the pictures from the thread i bought them from...

IMGP0037.jpg

IMGP0038.jpg

IMGP0039.jpg

so even after looking at those pictures, telling the guy that they looked to be tinted poorly, he still says that they are in perfect condition minus the run. if i can successfully get the tint off them i will just hack these ones up instead of my stock tails because i wont be able to sell these for **** once im done.

so yeah...stupid kids..

Re: my 2006 scoobie

yea you shoulda went with your guy instinct. Caliper cleaner I think is the same as brake cleaner?

My firneds have used brake cleaner a lot, and it's worked to take off the paint. If you want, you can always ship them to me, and I'll do them, for free too cause I like you ;) oh and I like tinting lol

Re: my 2006 scoobie

i dont want to tint the outside. im cutting them open and painting the silver part black and tinted the red reflector a little. i like that look 100 times better than tinting the outside of the light.

Re: my 2006 scoobie

That will look 100x better. Good choice. Let me know how taking the tail light is, I've read it's a stronger glue than what the headlights are put together with. I wish the GP tails were clear like those.. ugh ours are so boring, you can't do anything besides clear tails, or tint them.. Good luck man!

Re: my 2006 scoobie

you do realize that you can clear GP tails and that i am going to be doing a set of them in the near future, right? i am going to be doing the same thing: cracking them open, taking out red reflector, painting black, reassembling. however, you'd need to replace the bulbs with some red LEDs since there will no longer be the chrome reflector behind it.

Re: my 2006 scoobie

If anything is the same in other states...your reflector has to be visible from 500 feet...they don't care about the outside tint...hopefully you don't get hasseled for it bossman
