'06 scooby 2.5i, stock and sold

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

car looks pretty clean with those wheels. I'm waiting for you to do something more exciting come spring? maybe some deep dish or concave??

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

probably not. with a kid on the way it's hard to justify making my car even more impractical. i'm going to be running STI BBS (17x7.5) this summer, potentially with some spacers.

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

bye, bye lowness. the last picture of it being low. probably ever. stock suspension goes back on tomorrow.

Stupid low car.

Stupid slow car.

Stupid sloobaru car.

I got nothing to add.

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

it's an okay car overall. if i were to ever build something to be fast i would most definitely not start with a subaru.

they make great daily drivers, though. they have their issues, but what car doesn't?

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

The Boxer motors are the issue, they like head gaskets and love to throw rod bearings, most subie guys won't confess that the era of 2000 subies weren't that great, not as bullet proof as the ones from the 90's. The new ones maybe making a return to that era but its too soon to say. If you do the routine maintenance and take care of the car, the better you are. I've noticed these issues are more of a problem with Turbo'd Boxer engines versus the N/a motors.

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

they're all basically the same motor, mine just doesn't have a turbo and the pistons are different so it's higher compression. otherwise the motor is pretty well the same.

the only thing they did "correct" out of all of it is the 6 speed transmission in the STI.

Re: '06 scooby 2.5i, summer wheels sold, still low

Again its a Turbo'd boxer engine, 08-09 WRX's all threw their rod bearings within 15k miles...at least under warranty. They used the wrong material, so 2010 models seem to be golden so far.

Its hit or miss, some see 50k miles and some see 200k miles...all comes down to how you take care of it. The 02-07 WRX's and STi's had transmissions that were a bit on the weak side too.
