'06 gxp mod suggestions

I just bought my gxp about 3 weeks ago. I am still working on fine tuning my diablo sport programmer and I got one of those nifty tornadoes and a k&n filter. Going to get my windows tinted this weekend but I was hoping to pick up any and all suggetions for where to go from there. I was looking into a turbo or a SC but 5 g's is a bit too much atm. I may go for dual exhaust all the way through next. Any other GXP owners interested in performance message me if you have any info. Thanks.

ditch that tornado, tests show it actually robs horsepower. i believe wbodystore sells a downpipe so that will help with flow. i wouldnt waste 5grand on a turbo kit for a car with barely any aftermarket

LS based cam. its the only way to go!

other than that...... intake, exhaust is a good start! keep up on the tuning aspect.

or if you dont do a cam, go for rockers.

Cams you say? Should I go for the cam or a new set of heads? I'm 3 weeks or so into this and do well with repairs but performance upgrades are very new to me. If anyone is in the south jersey area and knows a good speed shop to help me lease let me know. I'm on my 2nd shp and looking for someone more helpful.

I was advised to avoid the turbo until I add more aftermarket equipment. But trust me I'm keeping that bug in my wifes ear lol.

partsforyourcar.com has lots of modz...interior, exterior, suspension and brake, under the hood modz, etc... (if you have a Grand Prix, this website only has stuff for 1997-2003 and 2004-2008) good luck shopping and i hoped i have helped you out.

If I had a GXP. My mod list would include: K&N CAI, Hogan Performance 3" DP and some sort of Catback (Corsa, Magnaflow, etc.), a tuner (such as the DiabloSport you have), and yes, either a set of Roller Rockers or a LS "X" based cam for your LS4...hope this helps ya :D

its a shame you werent closer.....

It's a toss up either doing the cam before heads or reverse. The heads will set you up for a better cam profile in the end... but adding a cam and tune will easily drop a full second off your times now. if you have plans for nitrous.. I would go for a current nitrous ground cam.

LS1's LOVE spray. SC/Turbo are pricey... but worth it.

I would consult GMHTP magazine.. they would be able to give you the names of a few shops in your area that would help you out!

LS based motors are easy to work on... just follow torque specs!!!!

a cam now would be able to work with your heads now...and give you a good starting point. however heads are a must when going fast... but spending 1250 on a bare set..... I would rather spend the extra and get the ones YOU want.

Awesome advice guys! I'm ordering the hogan dp, magnaflow high-flow cat, cact back (3"), and a magnaflow muffler for around 700 it looks like. I'm not confident enough to do the cam myself so I'm asking around if anyone knows a decent performance shop. I'm still running solo but my bud just picked up a 6.0 vette so we gotta see whos faster. Keep the info flowing and I'll be on the track this spring!

Ok you guys got me hooked now! I'm about to buy my new cam right now but I'm extremely confused which to get. I'm looking at comp cams and jegs atm. My motor is stock except for the pcm tune and fwi. If someone can help me shop I'd appreciate it. Or if anyone knows a good shop in south jersey let me know!

do you want NA? boosted? Nitrous? they have many different grinds.

when you do the cam you will need 918 valve springs, and 7.4" pushrods.

they revised the 918 springs for a different ramp rate... so they wont break like the old ones. I have new revised ones in my S10... LOVE THEM!

I have a 588/588 lift 226/228 dur 114 lsa.... this did great with stock/ ported heads, stock cubes. I liked the topend. it pulled really well! its not a lumpy idle... but you can hear it. I have changd over to a different cam... and have this one sitting in the box with the cam card....

remember bigger isnt always better.

i also have just purchased a gxp, mine is an 05, and i have found out quickly that there is a short list of mods for the 06-08's, and the list for the 05 is about a quarter of the size, any tips for the poor kid that bought the non-modifiable one?
