06 Grand Prix GT engine swap question

I have an 06 GP GT with the 3800 Series 3 Supercharged engine that is knocking bad. I was wondering if I can swap in another 3800 motor that is not supercharged without much hassle? I have an 08 Lucerne that was hit in the rear. The Grand Prix has a 4 in the 8th slot on the Vin.

I am wondering if the swap would work without swapping the computer and wiring harness over or if both need to come too. Or if the transmissions are different too.

In short. Can I drop a non supercharged 3800 in my 06 Grand Prix that is supercharged with or without a lot of hassle?

Thank you for any help or answers.

you could just drop it in and run it on low timing, or get it tuned for the na engine. or top swap it with your old engines heads lim and blower.

if you run it on the supercharged tune its gonna be doggy feeling, as its running at 1/2 its timing, so a tune would be best so you get all the timing a n/a set up wants/needs to feel any power.

Another question.

Same 06 Grand Prix. A guy at work said he had a 99 Bonneville with a 3800 Supercharged engine. He pulled the motor and was going to drop it in a Fiero but didnt want the headache of rewiring the car.
He said something about the 99 3800 being shorter and skinnier. Would that engine be able to be swapped in without to much hassle?

The 99 block and 06 are exactly the same, they even say series 2 on both blocks as the casting never changed.

The only real different is the lower intake and supercharger. The 06 motor has a gen 5 blower that is slightly larger case that is a better design compared to the older gen 3 blower.
