06 Gp Dic

hello, I have the 06 grand prix GT and I recently took off my dask with the DIC. (installing aftermarket dvd player) and obviously i had to disconnect the DIC but when I connected it back together and cut on my car, my Date on my first information screen shows, ( _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ). Now when I set the date on it and click the info buttion it will show the current date for about 3 seconds and then go back to the blank underscrolls. I re-read the manuel and its nothing im doing wrong. I've unhooked the DIC again to try and reset it, I even took the hotwire off the battery to try and re-set the Whole Car, nothing make the date stay. Anyone got any suggestions to what my next step is?

thnx,
-Proud GP owner!!!

im wondering if something is wrong with the DIC (not likely) or if its something dealing with the wires that was ran to the aftermarket radio. I never should of changed it cause I found another flaw today in my car, I have a button to cut the passenger AC on and off. well either, or the AC blows out on both sides, doesnt matter if its on or off. also i set my car alarm off while i was in it to make sure it still worked lol and the alarm sounded from my horn and my inside speaker... ??? what the... ??? sad thing is i let a PROFESSIONAL company install the remaining wires

I never want to change the radio in my car since everything is so wired together these days

I'd guess that's exactly what's going on. I swapped out my deck a couple weeks ago and the DIC will no longer hold the date, just falls back to ----- after I set it. The odometer and such seem to be alright though. I haven't checked on the oil or pressure monitor - but I'm not sure how they work anyway.

All the write ups I have seen on this have all been the same. HU gets changed and the DIC will no longer hold the date, but everything else works fine. Don't know what they did for this to happen, but seems to be a common problem for all that change the hu in the 04- newer GP's.

hm. i was thiking of taking the radio out and re-installing the factory :D makes it so much nicer, and just give the dvd player to my girl.

ya ,its like that , once you change the radio you wont get the date, i have the same problem with my 04 ...so i put the KMs to display...
