05 GTP Headunit that bad?

I'm trying to add some better sound to my 05 GTP (no monsoon.)

I really don't want to lose my controls/HUD display if I can avoid it (I'd rather keep the car close to stock if I can) and the adapters all add up to 100's to 'maybe' keep them...

BUT, is this HU a total POS? I wouldn't mind putting in an AUX input for my Droid and some new speakers all the way around if it puts out clean sound.

I'm sure this thing has the same ****ty paper speakers my wifes grand am had... Yech.. We put kenwood's in the back and some decent infinity's in the front, but.. also an Alpine HU... :/
 


If its not the Monsoon, its got the crappy paper speakers. Change the speakers out first and see if it makes a good difference to you. If not, then change the head unit, but usually you run into issues with losing your steering wheel controls, the DIC resetting, etc.

I changed my speakers to Polk/Infinity and it made a world of difference.
