05 Grand Prix Timing Cover Gasket Replacement

I just pulled the front timing cover off my engine in order to fix a coolant leak.

It took a few tricks to get the balancer off but no big deal. i'm debating on dropping the oil pan a bit when I bolt the timing cover on but hesitant to break it loose since its not leaking.

Any of you guys just RTV it up without touching the oil pan bolts ? If so, what is the trick to not squeezing off the rtv when sliding the cover along the alignment pins ?

Well, it looks like my timing cover gasket replacement has turned into a bigger project.

I found that my car has the aluminum oil pan and does not have an oil pan gasket. Instead, it has a grey RTV as a sealer.

Since I noticed some leaks around the intake manifold, the oil pan and the rear main seal, I decided to pull the engine and replace all of them. While the engine is out, i'm replacing the trans front pump seal.
