'05 GP GT 3800 Series III LIM/UIM

I just traded my '02 3800 Series II Bonneville for a '05 GP GT 3800 Series III ride.

The Series II motors had big problems with LIM/UIM failures and I know GM eventually redid these gaskets.

My question is, do the Series III motors have the LIM/UIM failure issues like the II or should I be ok with these for a reasonable time period?

Also - is there anything on the '05 GP Series III motors I need to keep an eye on?

I believe 2005 was the year that was half good LIM gaskets and half bad ones... if your UIM is metal you have no worries there, if it's black plastic then it's still the old bad one.

Look at the spot on the motor where the head meets the LIM and if you see silver/metal you're good to go, black means plastic and you got the old bad gaskets.

His UIM will be aluminum, all 04+ cars are for NA.

As the guy above said, look at where the LIM meets the head and see if you can tell what color the gasket is.
