'05 Comp G Sunroof problem...

Trying to figure this out. I got this car 2 weeks ago. Sunroof randomly stops at certain points when opening/closing. It takes about 5-10 individual clicks to get it all the way back or closed. The dealer put a new battery in the car before I bought it and said they "reprogrammed" it. But, upon getting the car it continued to do the same thing. Any way to correct this myself?

I've got the exact same issue in my 04 comp-g. I was hoping doing my alternator re-wire would help since I do notice lights dimming and stuff when using other electronics but that didn't solve the issue.

I don't have a sunroof, so I can't tell. I'd use what's already there... whether that's silicone lube, oil, wd-40 or graphite.

I have the same problem on my 04 GT, lUBE never helped much, I even took sunroog glass out and really cleaned the tracks and lubed it didnt help, took it to dealer they said 95% sure it was swith (LOL )..of course it wasnt....so now im still stuck with a sunroof that sometimes works fine and usually takes repeated attempts with the switch to get open or closed

Yeah. I'm still having the problem. It went away for a couple weeks. Worked flawlessly. Then, all of a sudden, started doing it again. I don't know what to try now.

dont use wd-40 if you dont have to. yeah it works but its water based and used on metals..stupid. i might of had a similar problem with mine. it would start closing then get stuck a little more open then the "vent" position. it was like off the track or something not allowing it to close easily so i had to adjust it to realign it.

do you hear the motor struggle or sound weak at the part it wont close anymore?

It sounds like a bad sunroof positioning sensor, I think its part of the motor but can be changed, I will get more info tonight

similar problem where have to keep hitting sunroof switch to close or open sunrooof
which is the sunroof position switch that needs replacing is it the hall sensor, the long black box, to the left of the sunroof motor or the control module round portion built into the sunroof motor

Any write ups or links to how to do this. Mine has now gotten worse. And then the other day it took a couple clicks just to get it to move. Thought I was gonna be stuck with an open sunroof!!

It's not that bad to do just have to lower the headliner, and the sunroof track a little. I did one when I worked at the dealer, but that was a couple years ago. I don't remember exactly what it's called but on the front of the track above where the switch is.

fixed it --it was the sunroof position sensor which is on top of the motor on the other side of the plastic_ the motor itself screws into it
easy to replace a mf to figure out but luckily u don't have to figure out now
just drop the headliner after that take out the front screws holding the sunroof up leave the back in and lower it down for access to snrf position sensor sps. simplely unscrew and put new one in put back together and it will work the sunroof position sensor detects the position of magnets ,Hall sensor, and directs motion of sunroof backwards or forward will post pics when can
