05 base GP runs hot when a/c is off

I live in Florida, So I usually constantly have the cold air blasting. But one night it was decent out so I decided to turn the air off and roll the windows down. I didn't think anything of it, and didn't check the temp gauge until I noticed when I was pulling in the drive way the temp gauge was up high, second notch past mid-point. I turned the air back on and it slowly when down to the notch below mid which is where it usually is at. Is that normal, is the water pump on it's way, or maybe due for a flush?

Bonus side problem: Thought my battery was bad, got a new one, still would constantly click. When it did start it was rough and slow. Tested alternator and it was fine. Assumed it would be starter but I read somewhere to check relays/fuses. I opened up the fuse box and noticed fuel pump relay wasn't fully in place, so I pushed it all the way in then switched fuse #24 (I think) labeled "Elek IGN" with spare fuse in the box even though it looked fine. Tried starting and it fired right up like there was never a problem. Could that really cause clicking like it was a dead battery? But it would also start with a jump. Makes no sense to me.

Sorry for the word wall but better to have a full understanding of the situation lol.

see if your fans are turning on with the ac off, when the ac is on the fans blow full speed all the time.

could be a fan relay or maybe even a bad temp sensor.

Alright I will check that. Are the fans suppose to be on even when the ac is off? Where is the temp sensor located? I do have a new delco thermostat in atm.

temp sensor is under the t stat. fans should turn on at 212º. best to scan the temp via the obd2 port with a phone app or a scanner that reads live data.

217-219 is a 04+ cars for fan 1.

I'd blame lack of coolant flow or air in the system for the high rise in temp without the ac on.

Out of the 4 3800's we have had in our house none of them had cooling problems in the summer. Good coolant flow with working thermostats have always been able to keep the temps around 200º sitting still.

It's normal for it to go between a little over 1/4 to a little over 1/2 with no fans on and no forward movement.

05 GTP, not running AC in traffic in the morning in Houston. My fan turn on point is set to 210*. The top peaks are 212*

Same car on the way home running AC.
