04 seats in a 98

Well, i finished up my seat swap.

98 to 04 seats. Also, i swapped the seat belts to the newer style.

All i have to say is that these seats are about a billion times nicer than the old seats.

Few tips from my swap are:

See pics i opened up the bottom mounting bolts to allow the seat to sit lower and sit up flush against rear shelve see 2nd picture.

For those about to do this make sure you have a T-47 star.

Wiring is simple i reused the original 98 connector but wired with the 04 wiring from the new seat.

Just make sure you get the seat belt sensor to seat properly.

A little bit of customizing makes them fit perfectly and well i'll let the pictures speak for them self.

yes i did, but with a bit of my own customizing and fitmit tweaking.

That write up sure did make it easier though.

The wiring would have been tricky without it.

Cool, glad to hear that. Was there something with the How To that could be improved to make the job easier for the next person? Or was it just unique to your install?

looks like he cut out the extra padding/carpet/etc at the top of the rear back to let the seat frame sit closer to the rear shelf.....

Ahhh, okay. Well I was just curious. If we can improve a How To, Im all for that. Some people see things a little differently or may run into different snags, so its always good to get that info included.

Well, make sure you have a T-47 star bit is important.

But i just spent extra time making sure it sit as flush as possible againt the back and as little as possible of the backing showed. Which involved notching the hole.

im working on figuring out how to wire in the bcm from the 04 to have heated seats for the front seats. That may take awhile though.

Really its a pretty simple mod...that nets you a big difference.

If you figure out the wiring bit, I would greatly appreciate a write up or information on that so that we can add that to the information in the How To section.

hey has anyone that has done the 04+ seat swap into the 97-03 GP's had issues with the 97-03 seat belt clicking with the 04+ seats?? any way to fix this? cause it takes me sometimes like 10 times to get it to click, sometimes it'll do it once. And it does it with both the driver and passenger seats

Sorry, I haven't had any time to mess around with it since I did the GXP seat swap last fall. Mine do that as well using the 05 latch and 99 belt. The length between the two belt "hooks" looked the same, but the 99 has a cross bar through the middle of the opening that may cause the difficulties in latching.

I believe a couple people switched out the 99 belt or at least the latch part with 04+ ones. Not sure the people that said they did wouldn't post pics, answer questions, etc. about that or any other things they said they did. Who knows, you may be able to just take out that cross bar in the latch opening and solve it.

I have my car torn apart right now so hopefully once I get the engine/trans swaps/builds done I can concentrate on finishing my updates for the seat swap, etc. I'm not able to change my write-up on here so I'll have to look into getting access to it once I get the time.

Sorry again for not posting sooner. I'll update you if/when I get the opportunity. Too much going on and never enough time. If you find out anything post it as well please. Thanks.

thanks, yeah i thought that little bar might be the issue, if anyone can post pics that would be awesome. Yep i definetly never have enough time for my many different projects at once. it sucks
