04+ intake? Yup another one of these

Everything about an intake I read is about 97-03, and then when 04+ is mentioned i read "just bolt it onto the MAF". The MAF is a curveball that is the only thing stopping me from trying to do this myself. I've never fiddled with an engine before but I really wanna start.

so the question is..wuddufux the MAF sensor look like, and what do you mean bolt it on? those questions aren't what i'm trying to ask, idk what i'm trying to ask, i just don't wanna **** something up, just gimme info plz.

and yes i feel like an idiot spamming the forum with another intake thread lol

The MAF sensor is part of the tubing, the only part with a wire connector attached to it...

That's my 04+ intake, it's the only part of the tube with the wires connected to it. The MAF is that whole section.

okay that makes things much more clear. thanks dudes. im just a completely inexperienced kid with an interest in cars scared to **** something up haha i'll probably do it soon. what size does everything need to be? and for the PCM just zip tie that down somewhere correct?

Yeah brah just zip-tie dat hoe.
I used:
(2) 3" couplers
(1) 3" 45* street elbow
(1) 4" x 9" air filter
Fuel line for pcv

The coupler I used was a 3x3 inch coupler from Lowes, the clamps come with it... that's really all I needed, I screwed with piping for a little bit I could never get it to be the right size so I just did that and it works great. I've been wating my IAT temps since I got my gauge and they only go over 100 when Im sitting still.

so i got it on, all nice and tight, but when i hit the throttle 50% or more it makes this sound like its gasping for air, or a cough or something for a sec then it's normal.

should that be happening or is something loose?

yeah. i rechecked everything and the car runs good. my first ever mod (not that it was a difficult one...) was successful yay! haha

Buy some degreaser and clean that **** out. And to answer the next question how do i do that without harming anything. Cover your pcm, intake, coils, altinator, and battery with trash bags cover everything with degreaser, take a hard paint brush and scrub it in and let it sit on there for 10 mins, then spray it down with a hose. let it dry completly and wala clean engine :)
