04+ Inner tie rod Help

Both of my inners are shot. I'm looking for advice on how to bend back that locking tab before removal. Last time I did one (was my first time on one of these cars) I had a hell of a time getting it off. I did not know about that tab and fought it off via welding and a bunch of other nonsense. Curious if anyone has any advice, it's been about two years since I have done one. Thanks in advance guys!

you mean on the dust boot that covers the inner? i cut it off, then zip tied it back on.

the inner tie rod needs a tool to get it off, but iirc theres something funky about the 04 up set up.

Nope not the dust boot. there is some sort of locking tab that keeps the inner from ever backing off of the steering rack unintentionally. That's where I had trouble last time

If it is the thin metal tabs like I am thinking of, I have always stuck a flathead screwdriver in there and used a hammer to tap it back then tap the tool onto the nut which will spread it out the rest of the way. Some have tabs that were meant to be broken when removing but I don't think that one would
