You can get extruded or cast acrylic rods from these guys:

Acrylic Rods, Clear Plastic Rods, Plastic Rods: TAP Plastics

I used them before for a completely unrelated project and had good results with them. They don't seem to have an octagonal rod like a blind turn rod, but they're definitely high-quality optical grade plastics...
 


nice find. i want to do something that looks the new Audis and have them follow the bottom of the headlight.

Audi has them for 1 reason only...because they are the only car company to do it and they belong on those cars...not ours...just like lambo doors belong on a lambo...not a Civic.
