04 grand prix stalls above 1800rpm

Hello. Im new to this forum and I'm hopping I can get some advice. Last week my car stalled on me when I was backing out of the driveway. It seems to stall when ever the RPM's get above 1800. I will idle all day until the gas runs out. I Changed the fuel filter since I have 256,000 miles on the car. I've cleaned the MAF sensor. still didn't work so I took it to a shop after they said that it was the fuel pump. So I changed that out and still does the same thing. There is no miss, studdering of any kind. It just stall when you push on the gas.

Hmmm

Not the average problem here.

Supercharged or not?
Any work done recently before the issue occurred?
Have you checked for a vacuum leak say at the hose to the brake booster? That elbow into the booster is a check valve and they can go bad.

non-supercharged. No recent work done. No I haven't checked for vacuum leaks. I was told that the catalytic converter might be plugged up.

It could be.. easy way to test is to remove the front O2 sensor. Wear hearing protection and don't beat it, but try and see if it stalls.

if you very slowly accealerate you can drive it anywhere but as soon as you give it to much gas it stalls.

I have seen this problem before

One was a clogged cat.

The other was a broken purple/white wire on the Crankshaft Position harness.

A third possibility would be a bad crank sensor

I got the stability error everytime I stepped on it at all hard. Replaced both front hubs, PCM. it turned out to be a vac line that fell off.

sorry working alot. But pulled O2 sensor before cat. car still stalls. All Vac. lines seem ok. What about the Throttle Position Sensor? auto Zone says I have to buy the whole throttle body.

I get a similar stalling issue above 3000rpms when trying to accelerate. I'll check th vacuum line from the brake booster, but where are the other vacuum lines? I figured I should check them all out to be sure they are fine but I'm not sure where to look. Thanks for the help.

I found most of the vacuum lines, replaced two of them and did seafoam (in gas & vacuum line). Still have the same issue but atleast I know the vaccum lines are better and the engine is a bit cleaner. Couldn't find any leaks in any exhaust parts when the smoke from seafoaming the vacuum line was coming out the back.

I didn't unbolt it but I cleaned the outside and as far back as I could reach by hand with a rag and TB cleaner about a week ago. Also, cleaned MAF Sensor & Air Filter on the CAI

Anything specific to clean the gasket with before putting it back on or just rub off any dirt/debris on it? I'm going to have a new one with me just incase the gasket falls apart. Gonna do the TB once my gift card from Advance Auto comes in.

Since my last post I took off TB, cleaned it, replaced the TB Gasket, cleaned the MAF Sensor. These didn't fix the misfire problem. I finally had a chance today to replace both spark plug wires I had gotten for free from MSD. They were the cylinder 4 & 6 wires, replaced them, took off all other wires and used dieletric grease on the coil & spark plug end of the wires. This fixed the misfiring issue. I'm very excited.
