04 gp gt: low, slow and a dirty sloot.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

Nope, I had to come home for my wife's father's funeral... Not the reason I would have picked, but we're going to try and enjoy being back in Kansas as much as we can.

I'll be heading back next Sunday.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

That didn't last long...

LTFTs are -15.6 at idle. lol

Time to get the laptop back in the car...

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

So.... I have confirmed that the loud clunking in the rear is not my suspension being completely and totally worn out, but it's the exhaust hitting the sway bar.

There's about 1/4" to 1/2" between the two.

Here's the reason why (I'm guessing):

That is not the stock resonator, and it is in fact 3 inches shorter than the stock resonator. But it's been there for quite a while, and it doesn't leak.

So I'm gonna see if I can find one of these:

I'm thinking 3" or 4" long should line everything up, back where it's supposed to be and cure the clunk.

Other option is to just buy a new cat-back, but shipping is expensive.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

So this happened...

Which led to this on the side of the road...

...and cost me $16 for 2 new caliper bracket bolts.

At least now I have an extra one.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

Been there; I lost my caliper bolt on the highway. Knock it all you want; but I'm a firm believer in a drop of Loctite on damn near everything.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

Thing is, I had put blue loctite on all of the caliper bolts when I pulled them all off and painted them...

But I don't really want to try red, because I plan on upgrading at some point, or at least replacing the pads/rotors when they go bad.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

Stuff really doesn't rust up here...

It's usually really dry most of the year, and there's no such thing as salting the roads, cuz it'll just make the ice more slick.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

You guys must seriously be weak, If my bolts ever came loose I would check my man card.

Re: 04 gp gt, slow and a dirty sloot.

KYB GR2's and SSC springs are in their respective shopping carts, just waiting until I get back from the field to order them.

Still haven't decided what mounts I'm gonna go with, though...
