'04 Comp G - took a stiff one in the rear

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

To be honest I can never remember seeing a Grand Prix at all of any year with the bars factory installed. I may be wrong but I don't think they came on the Grand Prix.

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

The hood fell on my head today while cleaning. Took a trip to AutoZone, put 2 new struts in out in the parking lot. Then, I smelled gas. I snooped around, and noticed 2 of my injectors are leaking. Bought new O rings for all 6, I'm pulling the rail and installing the new ones in auto class tomorrow. Anything I should be aware of before I do it, or do I just yank the rail and roll the new o rings on?

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

Let the car run and pull the fuse to the fuel pump that way most if not all the fuel in the rails won't spray out when you pull them

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

Should I do it while it's running, or just pull the fuse and crank it over till it drains the rail? Or does it make a difference?

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

i just bleed the pressure off via the shrader valve, un do the lines, and 4 bolts, then lift he rail up and off. have a rag under the lines when you unhook them, gas is sure to come out.

the rail will also be full of gas. so turn it over a few times and drain into a pail.

cut th eold o rings off, clean the injector holes with Q tips and brake cleaner.

oil the new o rings, roll them on the injector, make sure its damp with oil and install the injectors back int he rail.

the lower o rings lube with oil before installing them too. if your replace them, also cut the old ones off. you can break the injector bottom or top if you try to roll them off.

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

Got them all done in under an hour including cleaning up, and impressed the hell out of my auto teacher with how clean my engine bay was. Car runs great, no leaks, now if it'd only stay that way! Lol

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar low

This thing is becoming more of a project than I imagined. Now that my ABS module works, I found out my traction control button on the console doesn't. Ordered that along with a mirror switch and a new gear selector plate for the shifter (the old one has a cigarette burn in it, looked real effin classy lol) and a new spare tire panel thing, since my old one got wet and smashed to hell. It's getting to the point where I don't know how many more little things are left to go wrong lol.

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar little ****, again

I wanted to have some fun lol. Ordered an Aeroforce, a carbon fiber face plate with the GTP logo, and a brushed aluminum bezel to match the gauge cluster as perfectly as possible, and I ordered a wire organizer grommet to fit it in a vent pod

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar little ****, again

Old vs new shift selector plate

New one, all finished up

Replaced my Traction Control button and power mirror switch as well, now all is working and looking (mostly) as it should

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar little ****, again

P/N 15783851 on GM Parts Direct, $48.40. Really easy to do, too, if you haven't had the console out already it's 4 bolts and unplugging the electronic connector

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar little ****, again

Thanks, and guy have you seen my interior.. there's nothing I haven't touched lol

Re: '04 Comp G - Needs moar little ****, again

Hopefully soon I'm gonna pick up some near-mint door panels and aluminum lock pegs, then my interior should be about done lol except for the headliner, it's got some burns in it
