04+ 3 button to 5 button upgrade

yes there is an aftermarket stereo. was in the car when i got it. damn that sucks. and the plug for the compass is on the rear package shelf. take the back seat out and lift the cover. its on the top driver side.

yeah aftermarket stereo kills DIC date/time.. which is fine.. once you have the 5 button you never look at date/time anyways.

mines either on fuel range, Volts, trans temp. thats it usually lol

lol yea mines on the boost or the volts. and right now im chasing the service abs service traction, service brakes lights that stay on all the time, changed abs pump hubs, next is the bcm, irritating lol

Sorry to dig up an old thread but I just purchased my 04 GTP in March,2015. I'd like to upgrade to the 5 button. Can I simply just get a 5 button from somewhere with the new dash piece and clip the factory wiring harness to it? (I'll worry about the temp sensor and compass after I know it can be done.) I don't mind having a dealership reprogram the DIC for me,just wondering if it can be done. Thanks.

yep, you can just plug it in. no problem, but milage will be wrong and can become an issue for resale/warranty/safety/etesting etc.

Ok so digging up an old thread once again. I just installed a 5 button from an 07' NA car into my 05'GTP and just plugged it right in. I didn't get the compass module because I actually forgot about it. I have had issues for the past 18 months where the temp did not display correctly (always read 99,129,149,176°) and once in a blue moon it would display correctly for a few minutes. Since the 3 button doesn't display temp (only in HUD). I suspected wiring after changing the sensor. So I put the 5 button and bam it displays correctly on both the HUD and the bottom right of the DIC. Funny thing is Torque Pro always displayed correctly. The only issue is that since it's an 07' the car was equipped with TPMS sensors and says "Service Tire Pressure System" on start up. Obviously when I scroll through the display it shows the tires but has dashes next to them. Well where is the receiver for the TPMS? Also should I just try to get an 06' 5 button display instead. There were 2 06's and an 07' I figured the 07' would be closer to my mileage but it's actually got about 40K miles more. Everything seems to work fine except the tire system and the compass. What I am curious about is since I have an 05' would I still get the "Check tire pressure" error since the 05 uses the ABS to figure out if there is a tire low.

Jeff

Looks like I'll be picking up an 06' 5 button DIC then....

Thanks for the information. It doesn't look like the 05 will have those capabilities.
