03 GP 3100 sfi fuel problem?

I have a 2003 GP with a 3100 sfi and am having a start problem.
I have replaced the fuel filter.
I ran a pressure test (while running ) was 50 psi.
When I turn the car off it leaks down.

I was told it could be a fuel pressure regulator ?

When I turn the key on I can hear the fuel pump building pressure..

It only does this now and then but starting to be more frequent ..

Thank you for any help.

Your check valve in the fuel pump is leaking down.Thats what is causing it to leak back to the tank when the engine is off. :th_thumbsup-wink:

I have has someone tell me to start the car .
Pull off the vacum line off the pressure regulator and look for bubbles to come out of the regulator.. Well ive done that and nothing?

What do you guys think now??

I have been told that 50 lbs was ok and not the fuel pump..

Thanks you for the help.

ur pump is fine...i put in a brand new gm pump last year and it does the same thing and has never given me a problem in 25000 miles of driving. please describe the start problem so we dont have to guess your symptoms and maybe we may have a better solution then the fuel system.

This problem only happens now and then?

What it does when you get in and try to start it (after a drive ) it acts like it doesnt get fuel?

You have to crank and crank to where the battery is almost dead before it will fire.

There is no smell of gas like it flooded.

Sometimes you can hold the gas pedal to the floor and crank it will fire.

It seems to have plenty of spark?

Thank you for the help.

what u need to do is check your fuel pressure when your trying to start it and it wont start..if u still see 40+ then your looking in the wrong place if it dips then we have a problem houston but before a bunch of speculation occurs get us this info

As far as spark I have pulled each plug wire and cranked to see if theres spark. This is the only way I can for now. I am going to start driving it to work and just carry my pressure gauge with me just in case it decides to do it.
Hey thank you for helping out.
