03 Bonnie - $2800 deal or no deal? 197K miles

Hey guys,

Been in asking about a 97 Bonne and it got sold. Now I've found an 03 SLE [I think] with 197K miles for $2800. Leather interior is worn. Sunroof. 18" aftermarket wheels and good tires. What do ya think? Too many miles? Looks dry under the hood.

What kinda mpg can I expect from this car? 3.8 ser II.

Thanks
Randy

That's the asking price. Not sure how much he'll drop. I'm kinda worried about miles on car. At 197K, how much has it got left in it? That's more miles than I wanted and more money, which can be a bargaining point.

The miles wouldn't worry me a bit as long as the car seems to run and drive fine. I think it's overpriced. I wouldn't pay more than $1800 tops.

I would buy it. Miles dont mean what they used to. I certainly wouldnt pay that much for a Hyundai or a Kia with that kind of mileage, but a 3.8? Absolutely. I paid $3900 for my 04 GP with 199k.

Also depends on the part of the country. Here in ME, everyone has bad rocker panels, everyone has rust. My car has spent only one winter in maine, not a spot of rust anywhere. Considering the private party sales ive seen, i think i did pretty good. I saw a 03 civic at a dealership with 285k, they wanted $9950. I saw a 93 Camry with a sale by owner sign, $1900 and it had a really nasty knock when cold.

Plug the LIM, throw in updated gaskets, shift kit.. Should keep going for a long while.

Fuel econ will depend on driving conditions. I get 17-18 MPG driving straight city with lots of sitting still. On the highway my best was 34 MPG.
