I put gas in my 02 GTP. When I go to leave the gas station it died and wouldnt start until I sprayed starting fluid in the throttle. Once started it died right away. Had to have it towed home. Fuel Pump issues maybe??
 


sounds like a dead fuel pump.

you can try banging on the bottom of the gas tank, (a few flat palm hits with your hand) if it starts up after that the pump is dead and needs to be replaced.
 
Did you check the fuel pump fuse? I've had mine blow 3 times randomly since I've owned the car. Can you hear the pump test when you turn the key to the ON position?
 
Thank You!! tried that and still nothing. Has pressure at the shrader valve but thats what I was thinking as well new pump
 
I actually have to have a 30 fuse in for the fuel pump it doesn't seem to take the designated 15.. It never blows the 15 it just doesn't respond.. I don't recommend but it's been working for me for months so def check the fuse .
 
id be checking every fuse, under the hood and in the car, could be the injector fuse.

also you say its got pressure at the rail. you use a pressure tester to see just how much? it needs to be over 40 psi.

fuel should spray all over when you hit the valve on the rail. if its got good pressure.

pressure gauge can be rented or bought at a parts store. aka free rental deal.
 


Im gonna check with a gauge tonight. Could bad gas be a factor since I was leaving the pump. also it was 101 degrees here yesterday in wisconsin when this happened
 
being it never started after you filled up. i think the gas is ok. heat shouldn't make a difference.

check pressure go from there.

the check engine light on by any chance? not that a fuel pump will set a code.
 
no codes scanned for a stored code nothing. Thanks for the help this car has been a headache since it was given to me last year
 
10 plus year old free cars can do that. but being it was free....well i look at like its not to bad if it needs a few parts here and there.

once most cars break 100,000 miles all sorts of stuff just wears out. its all normal really.

and a fuel pump is super easy to change in these cars. if you shop around you can buy just a pump and replace it vs the buying the whole sender and canister.
 
It has 110k on it now I got it last march. The upper and lower intake have been done, new wiper motor (which didnt fix my problem) new tires, new silverstar headlamp bulbs because mine are terrible, new condenser, front brakes, 4 tires, 2 injectors and now this issue. Nothing is free lol
 


thats not to bad, ive done most of that plus a sh it load more.

as long as your doing the work, its all worth it wallet wise. at 110,000 miles, damn, its just starting to break in lol
 
Is it general consensus that silverstars are garbage or just my opinion? After reading the back of the Silverstar packaging theie claims are comparing the brightness of a new silverstar bulb to an old/worn generic bulb. Also, I believe it clearly shows the Silverstars life expectancy is a fraction of a normal bulb.

Maybe a headlight restoring kit would be a better option.
 
Theyre clear just really dim and one is in the trees and the other is straight. I live in a more rural area with less street lights so i tried these
 
Forget the restorers... Our headlights suck no matter what... I just got new housings and 55watt HID's, lights the road fine now, even if anyone in front of me hates me. :D
