02 GTP no 4th gear

Ok let me start with the car specs. 02 GTP w/ supercharged 3.8 and 4 speed automatic.

With that all of a sudden my car has decided it didn't like 4th. During acceleration and cruising it stays in 3rd. When letting off the accelerator it finally upshifts but as soon as the pedal is pushed it immediately drops to 3rd. No engine or transaxle codes. The car has 104k on it, I have owned as new and have been faithful with maintenance.

This car has had a history of electrical issues.... (horn honking without warning, key sticking in ignition) so nothing is surprising.

Any ideas would be great as I live 60 miles from town and hate to have anyone work on my vehicles unless I have to.
 


Actually after reading a bunch of posts. I changed the filter and cleaned some sludge from the pressure valve on the side of the trans.... what a pain, and it is running like new again. Somehow the trans fluid got hot as it smelled burnt but it was just changed about 20k ago. All is well again. Thanks
