02 GTP Broke but tryin



So far only intake. Currently doing preventative maintenance and suspension. Once I've got the rolling part down I'll move to the mod support, then to the mods themselves. So I'll be that guy with a stage 2 ic with a 3.8" pulley and a full exhaust system xD

But at least at that point I can start building up an engine (this one is at 198k) and by the time this one blows I'll have a built one to put into its place

If i had to do it again, id start with the transmission first (depending on how far you plan on going) then doing an balanced L32 with heads and a cam
 
I can agree with ya there. I don't really know transmissions though, I'd have to pay out the ass to have someone build one up for me unless I had someone available who could teach me hands-on

Just realized that the reply I'd typed up when I originally read this didn't send like I thought it did. The GTI belongs to a friend, 1.8l turbo with an intake, full exhaust and a stage 2 tune. He'd been bragging that he could was beating cars like 4th gen Z28 Camaros, Challengers, V8 Mustangs, etc.
He started before I had my window up in an attempt to get an unfair head start, but as you can see in the video, i went from only headlights visible, to taillights. Stopped at 90mph because it was like a mile from the Police station, we'd seen 2 go by, I was in the wrong lane, and there was a car in my lane oncoming; at that point I just hit the brakes.
 
I'm going to fix the ball joint and CV shaft issue I noticed on the driver's side, then upgrade my sway bars/ end links and bushings. Get headers and a nice 3" down pipe to improve exhaust flow in order to remove KR, then I have to upgrade my headlights.
 


I don't have very much money at this point (fighting the ever persistent waves of bills) or i'd probably have bought a replacement set by now, and idk how far away you are or how much you'd like for them.
