is there any way to find out exactly what motor i can put in it and what id what id have to swap over.. i even tried the dealer lol

Are you sure it's a 3.1 cuz grand prix stoped haveing 3.1 after 99 to 3.8s

u can drop a L67 in it... and be supercharged. need motor and pcm.

they did not stop running 3.1 liter engines after 99 because mine is a 03 and its 3.1 liter

possibly a trans. i would do some research and see what trans those later year 3.1s came with. if it came with a 4t-60 or a 4t-65 non hd, i would switch over to a 4t-65hd.

If you have the 3.1L and plan on dropping a S/C 3.8L in you will need to find a 4T-65E HD Transmission to drop in. The 3.1L come with the standard 4T-65E.
