02 GP GT W/Bose adding subwoofer ????????

I Have a 02 Grand Prix Gt it has the factory bose system.Am i able to do anything with this stock head unit ? I just wanted to add an amp and subs and or maybe upgrade the bose speakers but is it worth it ? Or should i just buy a newer head unit ? I know somebody here has been down this road many times.I bought a kit from crutchfield to hook up an i phone and give me sub outputs.Sony XDP-MU110 Digital Link Sound System Factory system upgrade module with cradle for iPhone® or iPod touch® at Crutchfield.com
