01 GTP hesitates and lurches after expressway driving

I have noticed lately that after driving 75-80mph on the expressway for an hour and then getting off at my town where I have another mile to drive at low speeds the car will hesitate and lurch a little, yesterday it seemed to be really bad.

The engine light does come on but after another two days of low speed driving around town it goes off and then the car seems fine.

Any clue as to what is going on?

No I don't know the code, there is an autozone just down the street from me, could they tell me and what would the fee be?
 
Mine did that once, although I did not have any drivability issuse, it thew a code promptly after exoiting the highway,
"egr position" or somthing, just the one time, and has not returned.
I could see where if the EGR valve was stuck open it migh cause a drivability issue at low speed if it does not correct itself soon.
