I get one thing fixed and now I have another problem, took my 01 3.8L it has 139,000 miles on it ( not super charged) to get it fixed in the shop and they are telling me that it is my transmission, I hear this noise come from it when I shift from park to drive sometimes not all the time or when I come to a complete stop and then go,it sounds almost like a tie rod going but those have already been replaced and I can feel it sometimes on the floor, does anyone know what it might be. But it doesn't do it when it is raining out, it only does it when it is on dry pavement

Have upper motor mounts and bushings checked....and the big typical failure is going to be the hydraulic motor mount and transmission mount. Rule all of those out of the equation first. 90% of the times it's either a motor/trans mount that's failing.

I've heard my strut mounts complaining most of the times you are describing, unfotunately you don't describe the noise, only that you hear it. Hear what Sammie, you gotta describe it..because we aren't there to hear it.

As for the shop saying your trans was bad, is this just based on the noise?

Ok, sorry the best way I can descibe it is when I am at a stop sign and go to turn left, that is when I hear the noise,it sounds just like a tie rod when it starts to go bad and when I shift the car from park to drive sometimes it does it,but only on dry pavement, not when it is raining out. But I can feel it from the bottom of my floor on the driver side,it feels like it is coming from my left front tire.

Sammie.. I've never had a tie rod make a noise, only get sloppy. Please describe the noise.

I agree with Bill, you have to describe the noise for us to try to better diagnose the problem. Does it sound like a popping noise?

I had a "popping" noise coming from the front end. Thought for sure it was a control arm bushing, end link, or ball joint. Checked/replaced most of those things and it still made the noise. Mounts were all good. Finally bit the bullet and took it to my local mechanic. It was the strut tower mounts were shot. When I would accelerate from a stop or come to a stop it would make a popping noise. Sometimes you would hear the noise when turning or hitting a bump.

Moral of the story, do a better job describing the problem and we will have a better chance of being able to help you.
