01 bonneville fuel gauge not working right

My wife has a 01 bonneville that the fuel gauge doesn't work right in. It'll read right till it gets to between a 1/2 and 3/4 of a tank then it will randomly read full or empty or somewhere in between. I don't want to have to change the fuel pump just to fix this but she really wants it fixed. Please tell me there is something easy to fix so she stops *****ing about having to reset the odometer at each fill up.

fuel level sender.

Look it up, its like a $20 part. You do have to take the fuel pump out tho.

Youtube, bonneville fuel level sender, there is a guy with 3 video's on how to do it.

I am having a similar problem with my 97 GT, the guage is pegged at the full mark and doesnt move. I havent ran it out of gas because I think that the low fuel light works ok, as when I start the car all of the warning lights come on for a brief moment. I could be wrong!! checked it out on the internet but there is no mention of a fuel level sensor at least for my car.

if its always pegged at full or empty or moves around alot, its most likey the level sender, the feet get worn off the sweeping arm and no longer contact the sensor.

Both my 97 and 97 Grandprixs need the level sender....just have not got around to installing them yet. I use the "Fuel Used" segment of the DIC..reset it every time I fill up, I know i'm good for 40 of 50L. It reads accurate too, usually only about a half liter or so off.

nope! mine is pegged period! I to use the trip meter..and havent had a problem, I do have this on the must do list for summer.

My GP just started doing it - I consistantly have 3/4 of a tank of gas. :-) Been using the trip meter, but I'll probably replace the level one weekend.

Then only fuel level sender I can find is $88 I don't want to spend that much if I don't have to. Anyone have a site that has them cheaper?

Ok well everything I read everyone said they broke but if you are using one at least I know good ones can be had. She's really been bugging me about fixing it lately. I'll be ordering one very soon thanks cam.
