Car issue that is not a Grand Prix...so I guess it belongs here?

A buddy of mine has a 1995 TransAm...mild modifications done..cam..exhaust and headers.

Yesterday he was driving to work and the car started to die on him, sputtering and trying to quit. He was able to get the car to work and shut it off but,
when he tried crank the car back up, it would not start. Pulled on of the plugs off..it was fouled..so replaced all spark plugs. Tried to crank it again would not completely turn over and started to backfire. So he sprayed some ether into the intake and it cranked right up ran for about a minute then died again. Tried the ether again when it backfired (sounded like the backfire was coming straight out the exhaust and through the intake) it blew the air intake straight off. Now it will not start period.

In the process of replacing coil packs and plugs/wires.

Any ideas on what else should be changed?

It is the LT1 motor. I will have him check out the opt-spark on the car and fuel pressure. Personally I think he used too much ether and that is why the plugs were fouled out again. Can't remember if it is throwing any codes..too early in the morning and no coffee.ugh. Thanks for the ideas guys!

I don't think the LS1 has optispark ignition. Was the motor swapped?...because 1995 only offered LT1. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Good Luck
